Eagle Ceremony Planning Tips

Where you have your ceremony and what program format you follow, is very individual.

The Scout Master has a book that you may borrow that gives tips on planning your Eagle Ceremony complete with program ideas.  Its title is ‘The Eagle Court of Honor Book…The complete guide to Scouting’s greatest moment’ by Mark Ray.  Another resource is the "Troop Program Resources" guidebook available on-line and at either the VAC Scout Shop or via the BSA on-line store. Attending the Eagle Court ceremonies of your fellow scouts is also a good way to gain ideas for your own Eagle court.  (The same holds true for Eagle Projects…go to help out to get an idea of what an Eagle project is like.)

The troop will order & pay for the:
Eagle badge & pin with ribbon
Eagle slide & neckerchief
Eagle parents pins
The troop will reimburse you for the cost of:
Eagle cake (a prior request must be made to the Scout Master)
napkins
plates
tablecloth
balloons          (provide copies of receipts please)
invitations       (card purchase only)

You will be responsible for:
Printing invitations,
Purchasing and printing programs

Invitations should be mailed to:
1) Tradition is that you mail an invitation to the entire membership of Troop # 9.
2) Voyageurs Area Council has a list titled ‘Council Scouters Who Should Be Invited To An Eagle Court of Honor’.  The Scout Master of Troop # 9 can get you a copy of this.  Typically this list includes the Council President and President Elect etc. as well as the Arrowhead District Executive, Chairman etc.
3) Family & Friends
